Service to the community can be more interactive than donating old clothes or asking for money. When teens get involved they build relationships with their community and develop a lifelong service ethic. A few easy TIPs will make your teens experience a meaningful one.
- Tap into your teens passion. Whether it is sports, music, art or cooking, when teens are doing what they like, great things happen.
- Take your schedule into account. If weekdays are filled with afterschool activities, plan to volunteer on weekend, and remember to make travel time and transportation part of the equation.
- Grab some friends. Teens want to socialize and there is no better way to socialize than volunteering to help your community.
- Get your kids involved in planning their project. Just like food tastes better when you cook it, service feels more satisfying when you have a hand in making it happen!
